Elbow

Elbow Macaroni originated from Northern and Central Italy, where they are traditionally used in soups. They are perfect for the American favourite macaroni & cheese. They also pair well with dairy-based sauces (like butter and cheese), tomato-based sauces with or without vegetables, and chunky fish or meat-based sauces.

They are best paired with cheese-based sauces, full bodied tomato sauces with or without vegetables, and meat and fish preparations.

Fusilli

“Fusillo” is a southern Italian term to indicate pasta resembling a small spindle. The spiral shape and twisted surfaces allow it to embrace both refined and simple sauces with equal ease.

The shape was inspired by children, since it is fun to eat and pairs well with a wide variety of sauces.

Macaroni

Macaroni pasta is shaped like hollow narrow tubes. This tubular pasta has a wide range of uses from soups to casseroles and though being and Italian dish it is well known throughout the world.

Macaroni is commonly cut in short lengths and hollow shape makes it ideal to hold dishes with heavy sauces & vegetables as well as thinner or watery sauces.

Penne

Penne is one of the most well-known type of pasta shapes, gracing the menus of most Italian and continental restaurants across the world. In Italian, the term “Penne” refers to the goose feather which was used historically to write with and was cut on a diagonal to achieve a really thin tip.

The large diameter and ridges of Penne make it ideal for retaining sauces and seasonings on the entire surface, inside and out.

Shell

A shape that resembles a seashell, it is easy to see how the locals in the seaside communities of Naples and Genoa got their inspiration in the creation of Shells, or Conchiglie.

Its graceful, concave shape is covered in ridges.

Shells are used widely in American-inspired pasta salads, traditional Italian usage might include dairy-based sauces, tomato-based sauces, pasta salads, and meat sauces.
